Announcing Hack The World 2016 Winners

Alt text

Back in July we announced our Hack The World competition. The idea was simple: hack like crazy until the 19th September, and whoever had the most reputation gains wins some awesome prizes.

We included two brackets - experienced hackers and new hackers - to ensure everyone had a chance of competing. We watched the leaderboard every day and were amazed to see the passion, energy, and sheer number of vulnerabilities submitted as part of the competition.

So, without further ado, we are delighted to announce the winners of Hack The World 2016!

Experienced Hackers Bracket

The final leaderboard for our experienced hackers bracket looks like this:

A Special Mention: Minh Râu

While Hack The World has been a great success, it would be remiss if we didn’t fess up with something that went a little less well.

A little while back we removed IBB reports from the scope of Hack The World. We did this because often times reports are submitted to IBB after the hacker had reported and resolved the issue directly with the maintainer.

We realized after the fact this was a poor choice, and retroactively dug into the data and discovered Minh Râu would have won the contest if IBB been in scope.

As such, we have decided to congratulate and reward Minh Rau as an additional winner of the contest. Minh, you will also be getting $1337 in cash, the limited edition swag, and pride of place in the HackerOne office in San Francisco!

Congratulations to all our winners for your incredible work and to everyone who participated for helping to make the Internet a safer place for everyone!
